"I wanted to work with Petite Sirah specifically because it is a personal favorite," says Merisi founder Mandy Donovan. "It really is the closest thing California has to a heritage varietal."
Alice Sutro is an interdisciplinary winemaker, artist, and mother. "No one in my family had ever made vineyard designate wines from our volcanic terroir along the Russian River, in the Mayacama foothills, so I took that on as an extension of my creative life."
Cary Quintana is a Miami native of Cuban descent who ran a wine shop for several years before deciding to head West and try her hand at winemaking. Now based at an urban crush facility in Berkeley, she launched her first vintage in 2014.
"What I have always loved about Vermentino is that there are so many interpretations as to how to best represent the varietal," says Lindsey Otis, who just launched a new wine label, LOTIS.
